I’m Ukrainian
“Hope is the deep orientation of the human soul that can be held at the darkest times,” said Vaclav Havel.
For Mark J. Lindquist, a United States Air Force veteran, it is that enduring hope that illuminates Ukraine’s darkest hours. When President Zelensky appeals to foreign volunteers to come to Ukraine and enlist in the newly formed ‘International Legion,’ Mark answers the call.
He enlists in the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine with the hope of assisting evacuees trapped in cities under siege. When another volunteer, Amir, hears Mark sing, Mark reveals that he has a career singing the U.S. national anthem for the NFL and NHL and is the lead singer of a Swing big band that regularly tours America.
Amir persuades Mark to apply his musical talent to bring moments of joy to the battle-torn country.
They gather local musicians to form a big band willing to risk their lives to tour across Ukraine.
With Mark as the spirited leader and vocalist of the show, the musicians perform Swing music concerts in bunkers across the country to bring Ukrainian civilians and soldiers residing in besieged zones escape and relief from the terror and anxiety of war.”
